Open IIT chess 2019, has finally been concluded, with loads of bloodshed and triumphs of new talents! The podium finishers are:
Gold: Koustav Chakraborty with 7 points (7W, 0L, 0D)
Silver: Gaurav Madkaikar with 6 points (6W, 1L, 0D)
Bronze: Ritesh Kumar Singh with 5.5 points (5W, 1L, 1D)
Three contestants, Nitheesh Pothireddy, Shakti Prasad Nanda and Ritesh Kumar Singh tied for the 3rd place with 5.5 points. However, Ritesh held his nerves of steel in the heated situation and emerged victorious in the Blitz tie breakers to bag the bronze medal. Nitheesh and Shakti were placed 4th and 5th respectively.
We extend our heartiest congratulations to all the position holders, as well as all the participants who fought till the last to goback contented.
